I am Alexander Kirkpatrick. I am a scenic designer working across live events, exhibits, marketing activations, and installation art.

I began my career in Ottawa’s theatre scene, writing and acting in local productions. I moved to Vancouver for theatre school at Langara College's Studio 58 where I studied design, directing, and stage management. I graduated with distinction, earning the Gertrude Langbridge Memorial Theatre Arts Award for Consistent Contributions to the Ensemble. I emerged into a bustling theatre community where I quickly built a career designing and creating sets for theatre. In 2018, one of my designs was even nominated for Vancouver’s Jessie Richardson Awards.

In Vancouver I started working with Greenscape Design & Decor, the replica botanicals company. It was here that I got exposed to the corporate market, and the need there was for trained theatre designers to help bridge the gap between clients with a vision, and the fabricators who have to make it. in 2018 I moved to Toronto, and got the chance to work alongside the construction team at Production Canada, providing designs for everything from photo ops to award galas all across North America.

Learning how scenic design can be used in the corporate world has been fascinating. Around every corner is a company looking to create a theatrical experience to connect with their employees, partners, and customers. I have a decade of experience designing, building, and installing every kind of set in every kind of venue, and I love getting to use this very specific knowledge to create pieces that have a tangible impact on their environment.
