  • When Microsoft chose to open a Canadian headquarters in Toronto, you knew it was going to be epic. Tech companies are famous for their dynamic interiors, and Microsoft was not going to be outdone.

    The designers at ai3 created some of the coolest environments I’ve ever seen. It must feel insane to get to work in a place like that.
    Production Canada produced a bunch of environmental installations as part of this project, and they were truly some of the most brilliant pieces I’ve ever seen.
    I got to work closely with the design team on creating this woven mural. They had the idea of cord woven through a perforated metal sheet, to create an embroidered tapestry effect.
    I produced a number of samples, and collaborated with the designers to make sure we were clear about every detail from specifics of the overall pattern, to the finishing of the knots. And once we were aligned on the project I worked with a crew to weave the project.
    It was so much fun to create a very specific skill set to make this piece. All the way to developing a language with my crew as we wove each strand individually. I’m not sure if I’ll ever need to do this again, but I’m ready
